The Election of Leaders

The Election of Leaders in the Government Initiative Alliance (GIA) is to be conducted in the following manner:

1) All Nations associated with the alliance have the ability to self–nominate and consequently run for office.

2) Offices for which nations can self–nominated in order to be elected are:

2a) President

2b) Vice–President

3) The number of representatives who are allowed to be placed on the ballot must consist of at least two members, but will only be limited to the total number of nations in the GIA.

4) The Election shall be done through a direct vote, with each member allowed to vote for only one nation per election, per position.

5) The “winner“ of the Election will be the nation which receives over 50% of the vote. If no nation receives the necessary percentage of votes the following actions shall be taken in subsequent run–off elections:

5a) If 10 or more nations have run for a single position, the 5 nations who have received the least amount of votes shall be eliminated for the next run–off election.

5b) If 5 or more nations have run for a single position, the 3 nations who have received the least amount of votes shall be eliminated for the next run–off election.

5c) If 4 or less nations have run for a single position, the nation who has received the least amount of votes shall be eliminated for the next run–off election.

6) With each new run–off election, members votes must be recast with the new ballot in place.

7) There will be a 48 hour time period allotted for the voting process to take place. With each subsequent run–off election a new 48 hour time period will be enacted until a member is elected.

Cool The length of each term for elected officers will be decided in further legislation.
