Partition of India, Gracania, Citrustan, and New Roosevelt
Alright welcome to the first test run of the Partition of India here on the GIA offsite forum.
The first step, is for the British Cabinet, Gracania, to bring his first proposal to the table, to see what the Indian National Congress, Citrustan, and the Muslim League, me, think. There will be 5 stages, in which we will debate semantics and this that and the other thing.
So Gracania, why don't you start us off with your proposal?

Re: Partition of India, Gracania, Citrustan, and New Roosevelt
Above is the first draft of this governments plan to separate the Indian subcontinent. The colours represent the following:
Red is the land to be acquired by the Indian National Congress Party
Blue is the land to be gained by The Muslim League
Green is the newly created country for the minority Sikh Population
Light Blue Shall be a joint populace of the indigenous Tamil population and a combination of Hindu and Muslim government
Brown is the land to be retained by the British Empire. We do not see Burma and Assam as definitively part of any cultural group in India. Thus they shall be merged into one untied Burma that shall consist, while having some self rule will be part of the Empire and swear loyalty to His Royal Highness King George VI. In the region we shall act as advisers to the fledgling countries we have formed and a neutral moderator to disputes in possible troubles.
Yellow represents the core area of our plan. It consists of most of the heart of India and shall be ruled by no specific culture, it shall be a country with religion and state separated entirely. This is not a Hindu country, nor a Muslim or a Sikh nation; it is a country for those who live in the Indian Sub-continent.
Discussion shall now begin on this first proposal.
Sir Alexander Gracania (made up name obviously)
Foreign Secretary in Mr Attlee's, PM, Government.
Re: Partition of India, Gracania, Citrustan, and New Roosevelt
I, sir Mohammed Ali Jinnah, reject this proposal on behalf of the muslim league.
We shall come back with a plan of our own that is more fair to all parties involved.
The Muslim League
We shall come back with a plan of our own that is more fair to all parties involved.

Then we wait in great suspense for the honourable gentleman's return.
(Oh btw, that is how you actually spell honourable, with a u.)

This is the Muslin League's counter proposal:
Based on current population reports(circa 1947) we feel that this is a more comfortable proposal.
The arabs have a majority population on opposite sides of British India. And we cannot move tens of millions of people across the country. Therefore, we want an independent Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the western side of British India, and an independent Islamic Republic of Bengal on the eastern side of British India.
The city of Calcutta shall be divided into occupational zones and will be divided into both India and Bengal. Much like Berlin, the zone on the east shall be occupied by the government of the Islamic Republic of Bengal, the western sector shall be occupied by the Republic of India, while maintaining the peace until the year 1975, controlling the central area of the city, shall be either the UN or Britain.
While the Sikh minority shall be given a small territory in the Punjab province, which they claim as their homeland. In the duty of fairness. While the island of Sri Lanka, shall be occupied by the Tamil population to retain a sovereign and independent nation.
While Burma, shall until 1950, remain under British Control. At that time, it may secede from the British Empire and form its own nation. But for the first 10 years of its existence it shall still have occupied territories under British jurisdiction.
Thoughts at the Muslim League's proposal?
