Election Legislation [(Passed Apr 11 2009) plus Amendment]
Election Legislation
1) There shall be a President of the Alliance who all in the alliance will acknowledge as their leader for their duration in office.
2) Terms shall last 1 month. This leads to some shorter terms (e.g. February) but for simplicity it shall run from the 1st to the last of each month with 2 days at the end of each month for election.
3) Each President may stay in office for two terms at most and then must sit out the next term. However after one term they may run again.
4) The Presidential candidate and his/her Vice–Presidential partnering candidate shall run on the same ticket. If the Candidate wins but then the Vice–President is unable to take office or leaves during office the President may present a replacement who will be deliberated on by the Appointment committee. In the same way if the President leaves or is removed the VP shall take his place and nominate a replacement VP.
5) Nominees for president shall be named in an official nomination forum threadone two day before the election process begins. 5a) Only nominations and candidate platforms may be posted in this thread. 5b) The nominating process will last for one two days.
6) Once nominations have finished, the current president willbegin a thread for voting an official Voting Thread where the president will list all nominations at the top of that thread of the nominees and their VP nominations. Nations will then have 48 72 hours to vote in which time candidates can answer questions and debate. 6a) Only a nations vote may be posted in that thread, nothing else.
7) This legislation may be expanded or amended later with further legislation.
Amendment to “Election Legislation“
With the passing of this legislation, the following changes would be made to the following sections of “Election Legislation“
Section 5, 5b, and 6 shall be revised to the following
5) Nominees for President shall be named in an official Nomination Forum thread two days before the election process begins.
5b) The nominating process will last for two days.
6) Once nominations have finished, the current President will create an official Voting Thread, where the president will list all of the nominees and their VP nominations. Nations will then have 72 hours to vote, which during they may ask the candidates questions and debate
With these changes, we can have a more stable and deliberate election process, and no nation may feel rushed to either nominate, or vote.
